| Mediation
Organisations are increasingly using mediation as an approach to resolving conflict in the workplace. Mediation involves facilitation of a meeting between people in conflict, in the presence of a qualified and independent person (the mediator), with a view to resolving the conflict at its early stages and in an informal way.
The role of the mediator is to guide such discussion in a structured manner, with the aim of reaching an agreement that suits both parties. This agreement is then documented and signed by the parties with copies then given to them.
We are able to draw from years of conflict management experience in conducting mediation sessions which focus on:
- each party clearly expressing their preferred outcome
- marrying these into one agreed outcome
- discouraging negative and aggressive behaviour
- setting expectations and boundaries for the future
- placing an emphasis on issues that are important for the future; and
- creating sustainable resolutions that all parties can live with.
By addressing conflict in its early stages, MJSP can work with an organisation to prevent the issue from escalating and becoming a formal grievance. MJSP have extensive experience in workplace mediations with qualified individuals available to assist in any type of conflict that may arise within your organisation.
