HR Strategy Development

MJSP are able to offer our clients access to a wealth of experience in conducting and facilitating the development of Human Resource strategies. Previously, Partners have been involved in the development of Organisational HR Charters and Strategic Plans that have been aligned to the overall business strategy of the organisation. MJSP recognise that this alignment will assist with the overall effectiveness of the strategy.

Specifically, Mark Smith, Partner at MJSP has significant experience working on the development of Policy and HR Strategy in the largest Queensland State Government owned enterprise. Within the role Mark was involved in the move from by-laws to policy and ensured policy compliance against legislation.

Some issues that MJSP consider to be important when facilitating the development of an HR Strategy include:

  • Recognising that people are a critical asset within the organisation and it is employees whom the organisation rely on to the achieve the business objectives;
  • Achieving a match between HR objectives and business objectives;
  • Considering the culture of the organisation and developing ways of ensuring that people within the organisation who fit with this culture are employed and retained;
  • Placing importance on the consideration of achieving the main business issues with the assistance of the HR strategy;
  • Ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are able to contribute to and most importantly understand the importance of the HR Strategy;
  • Ensuring that the organisations competitive advantage is considered and retained;
  • Reviewing and planning ways to improve the levels of commitment throughout the organisation;
  • That organisational policies reflect and help achieve the HR Strategy;
  • Communicating the plan to ensure commitment from all relevant stakeholders; and
  • Evaluating the plan.
